With obesity rates going through the roof and fast food chains popping up in every location known to man, when will this trend stop? It’s not about quality, it’s not about health, and it’s about ease and satisfying a natural human need. We all need to eat, but we all need to work so what do we do now? With households now having both spouses in the work force and families running ragged in every direction it has become almost impossible to get everyone together to cook and eat a family meal, so families turn to the fast food companies to keep everyone alive for the time being. The dangers of eating fast food are infinite from obesity, to health risks such as heart disease & diabetes. Fast food chains are businesses just like any other that run on money and in order to make the biggest profit they need to cut all expenses possible. Using quality meat from quality farms is a ridiculous theory that has gone the way of 8-track records; it’s just not the best way to make a buck. Fast food companies such as McDonalds are known for using artificial ingredients to make their products such as chicken Mcnuggets which are made from a pink, milkshake like material that is neither natural, nor chicken. If we dissect this issue even deeper we will see the abuse of people from a monetary standpoint as well. Over the past few months we have seen fast food workers go on strike for unfair treatment and the poorest wages there could be.
This is a trend that needs to broken now versus later. We can’t allow our children to eat these toxic products that can physically harm them as well as mentally which have causes unknown because no one knows where the root ingredients are for these products. This is where PR needs to step up in the future and show the positives of home cooked meals ranging from bringing families closer, to maintaining healthier lives which will increase brain activity, making our country stronger versus weaker that depends on faster solutions. We need to put harsher regulations on these companies for numerous reasons, we need the growth of local restaurants to increase jobs such as local farms which will create more jobs at home versus overseas plants that man make these items. We need to get the word to the public that these items will do nothing but cripple the country.
